The check before you hit send

Make AI Writing Sound Human to the Person Who Reads It

A colleague, a client, an editor can tell. Not from one word, from the rhythm, the hedges, the stacked transitions. This tool strips those markers while your keywords, names, and quotes stay locked.

What a reader notices

Six patterns that read as machine-written

The tool targets all six. The deep version, with fixes for each, is in the pattern breakdown.

reorder

Every sentence the same length

A reader feels the metronome before they can explain it. People write in bursts: a long thought, then a short one.

shield

Hedges that carry no information

"It is important to note," "it is worth mentioning," "generally speaking." Cut them and the sentence loses nothing.

subdirectory_arrow_right

Transitions as sentence starters

"Furthermore." "Moreover." "Additionally." Used to open paragraph after paragraph, they read as a template, not a train of thought.

auto_awesome

Claims with no specifics

"This can significantly improve results." By how much? In what case? Vague confidence is the most common AI tell.

content_copy

Paragraphs that open the same way

Topic sentence, three supporting clauses, wrap-up. Repeated down the page, it stops sounding like a person thinking.

balance

Puffery and grand framing

"In today's fast-paced world," "plays a vital role," "stands as a testament." Weight without substance.

Furthermore, it is important to note that effective communication plays a vital role in team performance. Additionally, organizations should prioritize transparency, foster collaboration, and encourage feedback in order to build a culture of trust that ultimately drives better outcomes.

After a keyword-locked pass

Communication is where most teams actually break down. The fix is not another framework. It is a manager who says what they mean, shares the reasoning behind a decision, and asks for pushback before the plan is locked, not after.

"communication" and "team performance" are kept. The opening transition, the doubled hedge, the tricolon, and "plays a vital role" are gone.

Where it fits

Anything a person is going to read closely

Client deliverables

A report a client reads as your team's thinking, not a prompt's output.

Email and outreach

Cold notes and follow-ups that do not read as generated on first glance.

LinkedIn and social

Posts without the "it is not just X, but Y" cadence every feed is full of now.

Blog drafts

First drafts you can edit into shape instead of fighting the register the whole way.

Four steps

What you lock before the rewrite is what comes through unchanged.

01

Paste the AI draft

Any model, any length. Do not clean it up first. The engine works on rhythm, transitions, and register.

02

Lock the fixed phrases

Highlight names, product terms, target keywords, quotes, and numbers. They are frozen before the rewrite runs.

03

Run the pass

Sentence length gets varied, hedges are cut, stacked transitions are thinned, and paragraph openings are broken up.

04

Read it out loud once

The last check no tool replaces. If a line still sounds like a brochure, it is the line you rewrite yourself.

What this does and does not do

A structural pass fixes the surface: rhythm, transitions, hedging, framing. It does not add a point of view, a real example, or a number from your own experience. Those are what actually make writing sound like a specific person, and they are the part you add.

It also does not promise a detector score. Detectors are noisy. Use the tool to make the writing better, not to win a classifier.

Questions, answered straight

What actually makes writing sound like AI?

It is rarely one phrase. Wikipedia's editor guidance on signs of AI writing, updated August 2026, points to overused em dashes, negative parallelisms like "not only X but Y," and puffery such as "stands as a testament." On top of that, unedited model output holds a very even sentence rhythm, opens paragraphs with the same shape, and makes confident claims without specifics. Readers register the combination as machine-written even when they cannot point to why.

Why not just ask ChatGPT to make it sound human?

It helps a little. The model lowers the formality and drops some hedging, but it keeps writing in the same underlying style, so the tells return within a few sentences. It also does not know which phrases you need to keep exact. If your text is specifically ChatGPT output, our humanize ChatGPT text page covers that case in detail.

Will this help my text pass an AI detector?

This page does not promise a detector outcome and no honest tool can. AI detectors are probabilistic classifiers. In Liang et al.'s 2023 study in Patterns, seven detectors flagged 61.22% of essays by non-native English speakers as AI-written. Rewrite to improve the reading experience, then judge the text on its own merits.

How is this different from a paraphrasing tool?

A paraphraser rewrites everything to say the same thing in different words, which is the wrong tool when specific keywords, names, or quotes have to survive. This runs a structural pass, varying rhythm and cutting scaffolding, around the phrases you lock first. See the AI text rewriter for the broader rewriting workflow.

Does editing AI text this way protect my SEO?

It protects it when you lock your ranked phrases before the rewrite. Google states it focuses on content quality rather than production method, so the real risk is a rewrite swapping an exact-match keyword for a synonym Google reads as a different query. Our AI humanizer for SEO page covers the keyword side.

What does it cost?

Paid plans start at $9 per month with the keyword protection controls included. There is no permanent free plan. Check the pricing page for current limits before subscribing.
